I've heard Terry Moore talk about that before, about how it's so much easier for him to draw women because he is subconsciously more gentle with them. (In his drawings, obviously; not in his plots. He puts his female characters through hell.)

Also, Eric, I read your comment like this: "Attractive people are bland to draw, WE all look the same." And I laughed really hard.

Keep posting your drawings, Joe!Heather Anne Hoganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14199619712140888045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14409531.post-55445003581893409322011-05-08T13:55:26.271-04:002011-05-08T13:55:26.271-04:00I think I did make a conscious effort to draw a bi...I think I did make a conscious effort to draw a bit softer here. I felt like everything was really heavy on the Doctor Who sketch. And I agree about the likeness not being very good.

I appreciate your feedback, Eric :-)Joe G.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14190700619730405910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14409531.post-83104802966999546022011-05-08T13:27:12.349-04:002011-05-08T13:27:12.349-04:00Your linework is much better here, but it may be b...Your linework is much better here, but it may be because you chose a female subject, and subconsciously are working softer. That said, I don't think it looks a lot like Lynda Carter, but I think that just comes down to her attractiveness. Attractive people are bland to draw, and all look the same.

Keep using photo reference, but learn to not rely on it, or you wind up tracing adult images and calling it comicbooks.Ericnoreply@blogger.com
